Questions we

Get asked

If the answer is not here, the contact form goes to a person rather than a queue.

Is everything really handmade?

Yes, in the narrow sense: made by the person whose name is on the shop, by hand, in small numbers. Nothing here is assembled from bought-in parts or printed onto blanks.

Why do two of the same thing look different?

Because they are two different things. A burned hat brim, a knotted fringe and a hand-painted ridge line are drawn freehand every time. Where that applies, the product page says so.

What does shipping cost?

Standard shipping is a flat rate and is free over $150. Express is available, and collection at a market day is always free. Rates are shown in full at checkout before you pay.

Current rates are the mercato’s working figures while carrier accounts are being set up — see Shipping & Returns.

Can I return something?

Anything that arrives damaged or is not what was described is put right — refunded or remade, your choice. Commissioned and made-to-order pieces are the exception, and are marked as such before you buy.

Something is sold out. Will it come back?

Often, but not identically. Ask on the contact form and we will tell you whether the maker plans another run and roughly when.

Do I need experience for a workshop?

No. Sessions are capped low — usually ten to fourteen people — precisely so that beginners get their hands corrected. Materials are included.

How do I sell here?

Through the application. It takes about ten minutes and asks for photographs of your work. A maker reads every one.

Do you take commissions?

Some makers do. Send the contact form with what you have in mind, including size and budget, and we will pass it to whoever is best placed to make it.
